Not about a writing this time, but about a person

You do not need to share same beliefs and opinions to built a friendship.

Our conversations and words often recur to me while walking on this planet.

I think they were spiritually meaningful;

As if inserted in a timeless, universal sphere.

We still have to walk in here; for the time being.

But walking is how we move the wheel of time and eternity !!

Everyday, we used to take our morning coffee amid fruit trees, using wooden boxes for chairs and tables. And even when the first snows came, we would simply enjoy the calm uplifting wind of the autumn in Switzerland, and chat away about philosophy, history; life in general and even occultism.

One does not need to share the same set of beliefs, neither the same opinion with someone in order to built a friendship.

By 2004, should we want to put things in boxes, I could have been called an atheist; he was a devoted, almost ascetic anthroposophist. The Goetheanum Donarch (Institute) was very close to Basel, Switzerland, where I was staying that autumn 2004. I have never been fond of Steiner’s thinking and philosophy. I had some interest in the bio-dynamic agricultural calendar; nevertheless I am not so fond of Anthroposophy.

  • But if there is something I had learned during my university years, and which survived inside my consciousness during those forging months of solitude studying philosophy and writing in the mountains was that: Knowledge is spread. There is not only one repository of knowledge; not “one” truth; one logic; one reason ……………
  • From my years of solitude in the mountains I also came to detect or to assimilate <contents / essences / bottoms> and not only “forms / shapes”.
  • And from my mother’s strong egalitarian formation, I learned that one can always learn something from anyone. Translated into my philosophical attitude: one can always learn something from anyone who has a genuine attitude upon seeking knowledge and life. One can always grasp something that will talk to oneself, even if it is not in the same “form” he is talking it; but in <essence> it could be telling something that resonates with something in one’s life, at that particular <instant> (perhaps even “moment”).
  • People, circumstances, even things that by certain <chance> are brought (or attracted) to one’s path, at a determinate moment, do not have to specifically come in the “form” we have preconceived them. Because what in fact brought or attracted them, is a <contents or essence> which sometimes escapes one’s consciousness (or visual pattern).

Yes, it part of Amor-Fati, living life at its fullest.

The little quote / poem/ phrase above, Is from just a few weeks ago when I finally, after ten years, was able to contact this friend again (for he is a little bit of an ascetic), from whom I learned many things: from savoir faire and practical things in life to philosophy, different perspectives; as well as to thank him for his wise guidance in certain instances and matters during all my years of travelling in Europe.

I was glad to have been able to thank him.
